The challenge
- After a client’s system failed they called Cross Rental Services for an immediate solution.
- The main challenge for this job was working out how to connect the containerised boiler to the client’s system. This issue was accentuated by the boiler room being positioned on the roof of a 3 storey building.
- Heating this environment was of the utmost importance for without heating, the office would have had to close, resulting in nearly 400 people being unable to work. Thus, a large American business would have lost money from this situation.
The solution
- The client required a 500kW boiler to provide heat to primary air handlers on the roof & secondary air handlers on each floor to heat the whole building & maintain a stable temperature of 21°C.
- After surveying the site, it was decided that the Storz hose should be attached to the wall via brackets, up over the roof & into the boiler room. The boiler container & fuel tank were positioned neatly at the rear of the building.
- Cross Rental Services delivered the boiler & connected it to the air handlers. Finally, the boiler was filled, tested & then commissioned all by our engineers.
The outcome
The client required the boiler for 12 weeks, however, there is a possibility this could expand to Spring 2019. The customer was satisfied with the solution due to the boiler’s efficiency surpassing the client’s own boilers.
