The challenge
- The client’s site contained 4 boilers. Of these, 3 had failed meaning the final boiler was not able to keep up with demand.
- Heating the site was essential due to the area consisting of assisted living flats where the residents would be particularly susceptible to the incoming cold snap.
The solution
- The client required a 300kW boiler & made use of the existing boiler fittings to provide 2″ stabbings for the temporary boiler.
- Cross Rental Services’ experienced engineer found on a site survey that a lorry would be unable to fit through a narrow gate on the site. Therefore, it was decided that a forklift would be necessary to position the temporary boiler.
- The boiler was tactically positioned outside of the existing boiler house so that only 4 lengths of 2″ Storz hose were required. Meanwhile, the client removed their old boilers & replaced them with new wall hung condensing boilers.
The outcome
The boiler will be running off diesel 24 hours a day to provide heating & hot water to the 41 assisted living flats. The temporary 300kW boiler will be on site for 4 weeks.
