The challenge
Our client required a year round solution for heating and cooling their teams in a busy food manufacturing environment. With ovens and equipment creating additional heat to the area our client required an effective solution for people cooling as well as a heating solution for when the factory becomes colder in the winter months.
Due to Perspex screens/booths being installed between workers on production lines an overhead ducting solution was required for this solution to allow airflow to reach individual workers; as Perspex screens blocked their current cooling and heating systems.

The solution
- Upon site arrival our expert technical sales advisor carried out risk and method assessments; to ensure safety and equipment suitability – this meant that the install and commissioning process could run smoothly restoring cooling to the site quick as possible.
- We designed and installed a system with ducting to run over the heads of the workers; venting downwards so that cooling and heating could be felt despite vertical Perspex screens. Meaning we could effectively provide a solution from above team members in Perspex booths.
- Our team installed two 200kW heat pump chillers paired with four air handlers; this allowed the chiller function to be switched to heating during the winter months. Therefore, eliminating the need to swap out units seasonally; allowing for no further installs or disruption to the system – giving the client a well suited long term solution.
- We provided a solution that benefited the client as a long term solution; eliminating additional costs associated with permanent installs such as servicing, maintenance and breakdowns. Our installs have 24/7/365 call outs and emergency engineers available to maintain units where required.
The outcome
We designed and installed a bespoke system the client can have in place long term; enabling summer cooling and winter heating effectively whilst Perspex screens are in place. Our engineers carried out the survey, delivery and install within a tight time frame; enabling cooling to quickly be available to employees once Perspex screens were placed on site.
