The Challenge
A major retailer superstore was experiencing persistent issues with high humidity and condensation within the sales area, particularly around customer-facing refrigerated units. Excess airborne moisture was leading to visible condensation on fridge doors and displays, affecting both customer experience and store presentation.
With large volumes of warm, moist air entering the store throughout the day, the existing HVAC system was unable to maintain the required humidity levels, resulting in elevated moisture content in the air and potential risks to product quality and energy efficiency.
To restore optimal in-store conditions and eliminate condensation on refrigeration units, a targeted, high-performance dehumidification solution was urgently required.
Cross Rental Services Solution
Our team at Cross Rental Services provided a comprehensive temporary dehumidification system, designed to precisely control humidity and improve air quality within the store.
We supplied and installed 4 × desiccant dehumidifiers, strategically positioned on the store’s roof to integrate seamlessly with the existing air handling system. These units were selected for their robust performance and efficiency in removing airborne moisture, delivering reliable operation even under demanding conditions.
To support the installation, our engineers also supplied and fitted:
- 50 metres of 32A 415V power cable
- 20 metres of 300mm ducting
The dehumidifiers were lifted into position using a HIAB crane, ensuring a safe and efficient rooftop installation.
Once in place, our team carried out full commissioning and testing, verifying performance and airflow balance to ensure effective moisture removal and humidity control throughout the store.
This bespoke setup enabled a direct and consistent flow of dehumidified air into the internal air circulation system, significantly reducing the moisture load within the store environment.
The Outcome
Following installation, the store experienced a substantial reduction in humidity and condensation levels, particularly around the refrigerated aisles. The new system effectively removed excess airborne moisture, improving visibility through fridge doors, enhancing product presentation, and contributing to a more comfortable shopping environment.
Our turnkey approach, from design and equipment supply through to installation, crane lift, and commissioning ensured minimal disruption to store operations.
